1. A restricted profiles feature has been available since version 4.3 the Android operating system, this enables multiple users to a tablet so a child’s account can be set up differently to an adults.

 

2. From the Android Settings click “Add user or profile” you then step through the process of generating a child user account and switch on and off the elements of the tablet you wish to be available to each user.

 

3. A screen lock must be in place to make this work – the following link will help with step by step instructions. For an established single user tablet, there are still options to limit the content - even the visible applications in the Google play store.

Android Devices

1. Selecting the Play Store app from your device.

 

2. Use the options key to go into the Play Store settings.

 

3. A password must be set and the box checked.

 

4. Click on the Content Filtering under the USER CONTROLS heading shown on the left. The submenu will then give you a selection check boxes which you select accordingly.

 

These are more vague but allow some filtering when it’s not possible to use the complete “Restricted Profiles”
